DAY 1. LUANG PRABANG
Upon arrival in Luang Phrabang, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After you have settled in, you will go on a sightseeing tour to discover the most beautiful areas in the city.
DAY 2. LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU (B, L, D)
In the morning, you will embark for a cruise on the Mekong River. You will go explore the sacred caves of Pak Ou, which houses around one hundred gilded wood Buddha statues. You will also discover numerous villages as well as the Phosi Market, which is by far the biggest market in Luang Prabang and where several hundred merchants of all kinds proposing a large variety of products.
Visit of the ancient Royal Palace, which has been turned into a national museum, as well as the city’s most beautiful temple: the Wat Xieng Thong. In the end of the afternoon, you will discover the “baci” ritual: it is a ceremonial practiced in all the important events of the Laotians’ daily life such as births, marriages, deaths or anniversaries of the death of family members…
DAY 3. LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI FALLS (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, you will be able to assist to the Alms Giving Ceremony: as the sun rises in Luang Prabang around 200 Buddhist monks depart from their various temples to gather their daily meal. The tradition of alms gathering dates back to the 14th century, yet still today locals wake early to prepare the food for the monks and wait quietly by the roadside to give their gifts.
After that, you will hit the road to go to the Kuang Si Falls. Being 50-meter high, they are the highest and most impressive falls in the surroundings of Luang Prabang.
Stroll in the Talat Pho Market and visit of the Khamu and Hmong ethnic villages.
Ascent of Mount Phousi, the city’s sacred mountain that will offer you a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, temples and the Mekong River. After that, you will take a walk in the night market of Luang Prabang.
DAY 4. LUANG PRABANG – VANG VIENG (B, L, D)
Departure for Vang Vieng, a little town bordering the Nam Song River. On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit a Hmong village and to meet locals who will welcome you with open arms.
Visit of the Tham Jang Caves. At the end of the afternoon, you will make a stop on the riverbank of the Song River to admire the sunset.
DAY 5. VANG VIENG – VIENTIANE (B, L, D)
In the morning, you will visit the city’s local market before departing for Vientiane.
Visit of Wat Si Saket, one of the capital’s most beautiful temples and housing thousands of small statues of Buddhas. You will then discover the ancient royal temple of Wat Phra Keo and Wat That Luang, the country’s most sacred monument, supposed to contain a hair of Buddha.
After that, you will discover the Patuxai, the “Victory Gate”.
DAY 6. VIENTIANE – PAKSE – CHAMPASAK – KHONG ISLAND (B, L, D)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse. Cruise toward Champassak, an ancient colonial city, and discovery of the pre-Angkorian site of Vat Phou, a World Heritage Site.
Then, you will be back on the road to go to Khong Island.
DAY 7. KHONG ISLAND – DON DET (B, L, D)
Boat excursion in the waters of the 4,000 Islands. You will cruise to Khone Island, Don Det Island and arrive at the Liphi Waterfalls. There, you will take a walk to be able to appreciate the panoramic view on the Mekong. Return to Khong Island.
DAY 8. KHONG ISLAND – CAMBODIA (B)
Transfer to the border between Laos and Cambodia and road to Stung Treng. End of our service once you have passed the frontier.
