  • DAY 1. ARRIVAL IN YANGON

  • Upon your arrival in Yangon, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, a tour to discover the ancient Burmese capital (1862 – 2005) will be proposed. 
    After that, visit the marvelous Shwedagon Pagoda, which is covered with 60 tons of gold leaf, the 70-meter-long lying Buddha as well as the National Museum, where you will be able to discover cultural exhibitions and beautiful collections and rare art pieces. At the end of the day, you will take a walk in the city-center and discover its ancient colonial buildings.

  • DAY 2. YANGON

  • This day is dedicated to continuing your visit of the ancient Burmese capital. You will be able to wander between the alleys of the Bogyoke Market, still largely known under its former colonial name, “Scott Market”. After that, you will visit the unique Myanmar Gems Museum
    A local train will take you around the city adn through the surrounding areas and countryside. This is an opportunity for you to observe the animated and colored life of the city’s inhabitants. 
    In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Dalah by boat. It is a small village located on the other side of the Yangon River. There, a cycle rickshaw will take you around the village and you will visit a candle workshop. 
    You will go back to the city at the end of the afternoon and take a walk in Kandawgyi Lake’s stunning park. Make a stop on the wooden bridge spanning the southern part of the lake to admire the gorgeous Karaweik golden barge, a royal boat in the form of a mythical bird.

  • DAY 3. MANDALAY

  • Transfer to the airport for your early flight to Mandalay, the cultural capital and Myanmar’s second largest city formerly called “City of the Gems” for its famous jade. 
    Discover the country’s last royal city before the arrival of the British colonists: the Royal Palace, the residence of King Mindon and his spouses, the Shwenandaw Monastery as well as the Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 engraved headstones.
    Overnight stay in a hotel in Mandalay. 
  • DAY 4. MANDALAY – SAGAING – AMARAPURA

  • Early in the morning, you will explore Mandalay’s surprising Jade Market, a real “Wall Street” of this precious gem, as well as a gold leaf workshop. After your discoveries, you will embark on a boat that will take you to Sagaing, a religious and monastic center which horizon is punctuated with many Buddhist monasteries.
    Climb up the city’s highest hill, which houses the U Ponya Pagoda. From there, you will be able to enjoy an incredible panoramic view over a few hundred pagodas and monasteries built on the hills bordering the Irrawaddy. 
    Transfer to Amarapura at the end of the afternoon for a walk on the famous U Bein Bridge, the world’s oldest and longest teak deck, which is even more beautiful during sunset.

  • DAY 5. MANDALAY – MONYWA

  • In the morning, you will hit the road to go to Monywa, to the northwest of Mandalay. Upon arrival, you will visit the Thanbuddhay Pagoda, which houses more than 500,000 statues, relics and other sacred objects, as well as the picturesque Bodhi Tataung, where you’ll find two gigantic statues of Buddha: one is lying and the other is standing. The latter is the world’s second highest statue of Buddha.
    After your visit, you will board a ship for an outing on water to the fascinating Po Win Taung Caves, which are thought to have been dwelled in from the outset of the apparition of mankind in Myanmar. Today, some of these grottoes are full of paintings and ancient statues of Buddha. 
    At the end of the day, a cycle rickshaw will take you around the city center.

  • DAY 6. MONYWA – PAKOKKU – BAGAN

  • In the morning, you will set off to Pakokku, a major trade center. You will have the opportunity to visit a cheroot (a kind of cigar rolled by hand) manufacturing workshop as well as a local market where people sell thanaka, a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. 
    In Pakokku, you will take a boat to go down the Irrawaddy River to Bagan. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and will get to enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

  • DAY 7. BAGAN

  • This day is dedicated to the discovery of Bagan, Asia’s most impressive archeologic site. On four dozens of kilometers, more than 2,000 temples, pagodas and stupas of all sizes and shapes emerge from here and there on the left bank of the legendary Irrawaddy River.
    Enjoy a carriage stroll in the famous Ananda and Thatbyinnyu temples, the latter of which is 62-meter high and is the highest of Bagan. In late afternoon, you will be able to admire the sunset from the Pyathatguy Pagoda

  • DAY 8. TRADITIONNAL VILLAGES OF BAGAN

  • Your will start with the discovery of the colored and animated Nyaung Oo Market, which remains very authentic and offers a great variety of products.  
    Embark on a boat to go visit a typical Burmese village. This experience will allow you to discover the daily life of local farmers. Continue in the Min Nan Thu and Phwa Saw villages, which are specialized in the manufacturing of lacquer. You will even get the opportunity to make some! 
    Return to your hotel at the end of the day.
  • DAY 9. BAGAN – POPA – BAGAN

  • Transfer to Mount Popa, a pilgrimage site located 50 kilometers southeast of Bagan and known as the home of the Nats, which are venerated spirit in Burma. Upon arrival, climb up the 777 steps leading to the top of the extinct volcano, which houses a Buddhist monastery that offers a gorgeous view over the region. 
    Take the road back to Bagan and make a stop in a palm tree plantation, where you will be introduced to the production of fruit-based candies and alcoholic beverage.

  • DAY 10. BAGAN/HEHO FLIGHT – INLE LAKE

  • In the morning, you will take off to Heho, and upon your arrival, hit the road to go to the Inlé Lake, located in the eastern mountains of Burma and housing numerous freshwater species that can only be found in this region. 
    Once you will arrive in the Nyaungshwe village bordering the lake, you will check in your hotel room and then have some time to rest. 
    In the afternoon, you will have a nice bicycle ride to discover the region: you will follow the small road alternatively bordered by traditional houses, plantations and hills and cross path with farmers working the fields or schoolchildren playing in the playground during recess. 
    Return to the village in the end of the day. 
    Overnight stay at the Nyaungshwe village’s hotel or on the Inle Lake.
  • DAY 11. INLE LAKE

  • This day is dedicated to a boat trip on the Inle Lake. The name of this 20-kilometre long lake means “the lake of the 4 villages”: it is populated by the Inthas, who have built several villages with houses on stilts in the water. The life of this people revolves around the lake: they live, cultivate and travel on it. 
    Excursion in motor boat through the floating villages and plantations and discovery of the Inthas’ authentic life as well as their greengrocer cropping techniques.

  • DAY 12. INLE LAKE – HEHO/YANGON FLIGHT – DEPARTURE

  • Morning free at leisure. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Yangon, and the international flight to the next destination.
